Tool 11: Finally!!!!!!
I am excited to display student work via Animoto on a blog set up for the parents. This will enable the parents to see what we are doing, eliminate a lot of hand outs from going home, and allow the parents to correspond not only with me, but with other parents. I can see technology being a big part of my centers and rewards in the classroom. So many of our children are parented by Wii's, XBOX, PS3, and other devices that I think they will thrive using it as an educational tool.

Tool 10 Digital Citizenship
Digital Citizenship is the start of everything that a 21st century teacher has to do. Teaching and modeling this concept year round to every class regardless of exposure is imperative. I believe that the beginning of the year is the time that should be set aside to introduce Digital Citizenship and then reinforce throughout the year. maybe setup a social contract with students.
Brainpop has a great video to show students. It explains what digital citizenship is, why it's important, and etiquette behaviors to follow. Digital citizenship goes beyond just following the golden rule. Teachers must also model how to find trusted sites when researching. Teachers will need to show students how to analyze several sites for key information and not just trusting one source. Plagiarizer is another area to address as well as siting sources appropriately. Just because it's on the internet does not mean it's yours to copy and use as your own. Atomic Learning can also be used as a source to aid in all aspects of digital citizenship

Tool 9
1. Technology is the way to the future with texting, tweets, facebooking, linkened, ect. With as much as we use and rely on our technology how can we not expect the youth to not only follow us but trump our usage? With this being said, every student, regardless of their availability outside of school, needs to be well versed and have access to modern technology for learning. It is no longer a worksheet or a book; it is a Nook and a website.
2. Students need to be held accountable for center usage and learning because we can not be there directly in each center every time. Sometimes centers do not meet the educational needs of the students because it is not on level or has been in circulation too long. Having the students turn in work from center time helps to ensure the centers are effective.
3. I like and have set up accounts at Tutpup and Studyladder. These can be used on the computers to help the students with their skills and to reinforce the skills. I will be able to see their progress to ensure they are effectively using them during center time.
4. As far as apps for the Itouch...not gonna lie, I looked at other peoples blogs for ideas. I am still learning how to search for apps that are free. I see a lot I like, but most of them seem to cost money. Not sure how that will work in the classroom. Are we allocated a budget for apps or is it out of pocket? I will hold the students accountable with a form they will need to fill out or draw about what they have learned.
5. As for other ways to use. Many students need behavior charts and incentives. This could work as an excellent tool for children to "work" for.

Tool 8
I learned how to update my ITouch, download free apps, and how to access the calendar. I intend to use this as a whole group for math tools or as a 2 person center. The students can use the IBooks to read in a center as well.
Tool 7
During Math I will implement Google Doc GRAPH's. We can collect our class data and share with a 4th grade classroom. This can be effective for both grades as they can use it for fraction graphs in 4th while 1st grade is using the information for addition and subtraction. We will utilize this as a getting to know you activity in the beginning of the year, but will be able to revisit the concept at any time.
Tool 6
I created a Skype account. I plan to utilize this within my classroom on the net books from the C.O.W.s. My class can communicate with a classroom in a different district or on a different campus. We can do an author study and compare the books between the campuses.
I plan on also utilizing my Blogger account to set up a 1st grade blog site that will update the parents on our events and post a calendar for the month.

Tool 5
I have used Wordle with my classes several times. It is a great way for the students to recall what they have learned. They are able to take it home and share with their families as well. I also used Animoto. I have not incorporated this in my classroom, only for personal use. If the school had an account I would love to use it to virtually display student work.
Tool 4 Google Aps
I found this tool VERY useful. I can really see how this can be quite a great addition for a grade level or a team within the whole school. Prior to sending a letter to the parents or out into the community we can have everyone review and approve. Cant wait to try this with my new team. I don't foresee me using this with my students, as we will be teaching them to write.

tool 3
The 2 videos I picked are the use of word studies via a smartboard in a first grade classroom and one on phonics and centers
As for what is helpful with classroom content, I am a huge fan of Teacher Tude and SChool Tube. Going into a new grade, I have been looking at videos of 1st grade lessons and classroom centers for ideas. I LOVE United Streaming and have used that in several lessons. Just make sure you preview the whole video prior to showing to the class.
As for copyright and fair use law, I learned it allows the educators to use materials without the permission of the copyright holder as long as the copy right material is a legal copy and it is performed or displayed during face to face teaching process in a classroom.
As far embedding videos...this is my 3rd attempt and still not working... HELP!!!
As far as Picasa is concerned... not sure how to use the remix thing, but looks like this would be great for flipchart pictures.
